be broken, not selfish
I’m realizing that God finds beauty in vulnerability. His strength is shown when we are vulnerable. ‘His power is made perfect in our weakness’
C.S. Lewis says it right.. “To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket - safe, dark, motionless, airless - it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.”
Dang… I am 100% guilty. There are many times I’ve been selfish in not letting people see all of who I am. There is beauty in vulnerability; there is strength. How quickly we forget this.
“I understand now that the vulnerability I’ve always felt is the greatest strength a person can have. You can’t experience life without feeling life. What I’ve learned is that being vulnerable to somebody you love is not a weakness, its a strength.”
I pray we can all find that strength everyday.
Enjoy the beauty in today.
